MISSION STATEMENT ~ THE DOVER BOXING CLUB

The Dover Boxing Club is a non-profit organization dedicated to enhancing the future of the youth of Dover, New Jersey and its surrounding community through the art of Olympic-Style Boxing by providing the participants exercise, character development, self-discipline, self-confidence, structure, work ethic and friendships and to achieve competitive excellence. To support amateur boxing, and promote and grow the sport of boxing in the US by competing in local, state, regional, national and international competitions.


THE STAFF

Edward Leahy, Founder /  Trainer

Ed is the founder of the Dover Boxing Club and serves as the head trainer. Ed is a former professional boxer and professional judge and is well known in the boxing world. Ed is a certified Level 3 coach for USA Boxing and is currently the vice president of New Jersey Association of USA Boxing.  Ed is a former member of the IBF, WBC, NABF and IPRO. Ed won the light weight championship while on active duty in the U.S. Marine Corps stationed in Bermuda.

Ed has a remarkable record working with young boxers. Ed has coached in the Gold Gloves, Diamond Gloves, New Jersey State championships, Northeast Regional championships, Nationals and has coached at the International level as well as being named the head coach for the Northeast Regional team in 2002 that competed in Lake Placid New York. In addition, ED is licensed by the New Jersey State Athletic Commission as a professional boxing manager and second.

Rich Stoltenborg, Assistant Director/Coach

Rich is the Assistant Director/Treasurer of the Dover Boxing Club and former President. He is a USA Boxing certified coach and has been with the Dover Boxing Club since its inception and has held various positions on the board of directors of the Dover Boxing Club.

Rich has coached in the Gold Gloves, Diamond Gloves, New Jersey State championship’s, Northeast Regional championships and has coached at the International level. In addition, Rich is licensed by the New Jersey State Athletic Commission as a professional boxing manager and second. Rich is currently the Chief of Police in Ridgefield New Jersey.

Eric Beck, Trustee/Coach

Eric has been with the Dover Boxing Club since its inception and has held various positions on the board of directors. Eric currently serves as a trustee. Eric is a dedicated coach and a vital part of the Dover Boxing Club. Eric has competed in the New Jersey Golden Gloves.

Eric is a USA Boxing certified coach and has coached in the Gold Gloves, Diamond Gloves, New Jersey State championship’s, Regional’s and has coached at the International level. Eric is currently a Police Officer with the Rockaway Township Police Department.


President Stephen Bumbaco

Steve Bumbaco, President, started Boxing with Ed Leahy at age 14; he fought in Diamond Gloves, Silver Gloves, and Golden Gloves competitions.  He also competed in International competitions against Canada, Puerto Rico, England, and Ireland.  During his college career he fought on the Penn State Boxing team from 2004-2008; served as Vice President of Penn State Boxing Team from 2005-2008; and was the Assistant Coach of Penn State Boxing Team, from 2007-2008.  Bumbaco has held numerous positions, yet his current title at the organization is serving as the Dover Boxing Clubs President and USA Boxing Certified Coach from 2009-Present.  Earlier in his life, he graduated from Penn State in 2008 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Financial Economics.


Fund Raising Coordinator/ Secretary Kristin Vincent

Serves as the fund-raising and youth services liaison within the community.  Her certification in the Strengthening Families Program, and work as a Prevention Specialist brings a new avenue of resources and opportunities for serving the youth in Dover Boxing Clubs program.  Vincent has previously worked as designer and product specialist for the largest motorcycle corporation in the United States, and spoke at safety training sessions all over the country.
